Schools are one of our favorite places to bring meaningful design to since they are the hub of children’s lives and learning for so many hours. What should be more important than having an engaging space that has the aesthetics and beauty purposed to the value of their time? From elementary school bathrooms, gyms and libraries, even playgrounds, middle school entries, stairwells, quotes and cafeterias, to high school sports medicine rooms, and more, school design not only uplifts the students, but teacher morale and all who enter!

Belmont Ridge Middle School: Cafeteria

“Inspire Adventure: National Park Vintage Posters Cafeteria”
Belmont Ridge Middle School, Ashburn, VA

This wonderful middle school had their grades and teams named after some of the USA’s best National Parks but, unfortunately, their outdated chicken mural cafeteria didn’t match that beauty. Fun Places created a simplified geometric background to enhance, but not detract from, the oversized vintage National Park posters painted around the cafeteria in vibrant colors. With the addition of 20 overhead mobile birds and the beauty the posters reflect, this cafeteria was transformed into an inspirational environment that encourages its middle school students to remember the beauty in this world and go out there and adventure among it!
