SCHOOLS

Schools are one of our favorite places to bring meaningful design to since they are the hub of children’s lives and learning for so many hours. What should be more important than having an engaging space that has the aesthetics and beauty purposed to the value of their time? From elementary school bathrooms, gyms and libraries, even playgrounds, middle school entries, stairwells, quotes and cafeterias, to high school sports medicine rooms, and more, school design not only uplifts the students, but teacher morale and all who enter!

 

Ashburn Elementary: Quotes

 “Collaborative Kandinsky”
Ashburn Elementary, Ashburn, VA

The first project Fun Places completed for Ashburn Elementary (of four) was part of a 5th grade Legacy Gift to the school. In collaboration with the school’s art teacher, 5th grade students painted panels of concentric circles, inspired by one of the pioneers of abstraction, Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky. They then chose quotes that would inspire future students to come and, in collaboration, Fun Places painted this series of quotes on top of the Kandinsky student artwork in large, impactful sizes to be mounted in the hallways around the school. What came out of this multi-faceted project, was truly a special gift that students can see their choices and handiwork in!
