SCHOOLS

Schools are one of our favorite places to bring meaningful design to since they are the hub of children’s lives and learning for so many hours. What should be more important than having an engaging space that has the aesthetics and beauty purposed to the value of their time? From elementary school bathrooms, gyms and libraries, even playgrounds, middle school entries, stairwells, quotes and cafeterias, to high school sports medicine rooms, and more, school design not only uplifts the students, but teacher morale and all who enter!

Cedar Lane Elementary: Library Artist-In-Residence

“Childhood Favorites”
Collaborative Library Mural at Cedar Lane Elementary School, Ashburn, VA
110’ x 4’ high (larger in some spots)

This special Legacy project given by a graduating class at Cedar Lane, allowed every 5th grader from 5 classrooms to work on this project - painting in a design Fun Places created on MDF that incorporated over 50 favorite children’s book characters. After we facilitated the kids all contributing their marks to the painting, we outlined their work with black lines to define and then installed it surrounding the entire library so that they can always come back and see that part they added as a gift to the students who will come after them. It not only made a huge visual impact to the space, but was a lot of fun to make and created bonding, memories and pride for all the artists involved!
