A dream came true when Extreme Makeover: Home Edition came back to Minnesota again to gift a home to a deserving family right in our St. Paul area! Willing to scrub floors at 2am to be part of this amazing program, Fun Places also shared with the volunteer staff our painting experience & were called in by the producer before filming to be part of a special project. The Morris family owned and ran a globally-centered in-home day care facility that worked on a sliding scale, respecting and honoring all socio-economic abilities, to have high quality childcare. Building a new attached day care was part of the projects for this week, and the centerpiece table was our project, working with the Muppets, from start to finish! We also got to do some painting on play recycling bins, some Trompe L’oeil disguising of air vents in the kids’ bedrooms. It was a remarkable experience, not only to see how the “magic” of completing a home from start to finish happens in a week, but perks of working behind the scenes, meeting the Muppets and other Extreme Makeover personalities and many, many amazing and talented blue-collar artisans and workers who put their hearts into this project as volunteers too!
